Carl studied at the Imperial College and was awarded with a BSc Hons. in Medicinal Chemistry in 1997 and an MSc in Environmental Technology in 1998.
Carl successfully completed his Common Professional Examination before he was called to the Bar (Lincolns’ Inn) in 2000 and later that year he was also called to the Hong Kong Bar where he established his legal practice.
Carl’s practice has mainly been in crime, specialising in Road Traffic Offences, Money-Laundering, International Drug Trafficking and also conducting technical summons prosecutions for various Government Departments in Hong Kong.
In addition to his private practice, Carl has been teaching on the Practising Certificate for Laws (PCLL) course at the University of Hong Kong for over a decade. Carl also assists in dispute resolution as a Mediator and is also an active member of the Legal Chapters of Old Epsomians (alumni of Epsom College, Surrey) and the Diocesan Boys’ School Old Boys’ Association.
Given Carl’s excellent reputation and vast experience in his legal practice, he has been appointed a consultant in various institutions including the Westway Trust in London, the Motor Sports Club of Hong Kong and the International Dragon Boat Federation.
Carl, a keen athlete, is still competing as a hill-climbing cyclist for the Imperial College Cycling Club and is also representing Great Britain in Dragon Boat Racing.”
From his positions as Ball Chairman in a Lions Club and a past President of the Rotary Club of Hong Kong, Carl also has extensive experience and energy when it comes to organising and fundraising for events. He has a string of record-breaking charity events in Hong Kong under his belt, and was Curator for the prestigious Fullerton Concours d’Elegance in Singapore and Honorary Consultant for the Grand Basel motor show in Switzerland. His enthusiasm for motoring has also led him to become one of Hong Kong’s most respected motor journalists, and also the youngest Chairman of the Classic Car Club of Hong Kong.
